TOMATO MARKETING?

Now before you think this Headline is a bit ‘off topic’ when it comes to learning Marketing Lessons…

TOMATO is actually an Acronym for 6 of the Most important words that have been strung together, that will impact the future success of your business…

Especially when it comes to generating MORE business.

We will get to the Acronym in a minute.

Let’s first talk about where so many business owners go wrong and they fail to have long term vision when dealing with customers.

(By the way, if you are a Network Marketer You should See your Team Mates in the Very Same Way – They are YOUR Business!)

As a business owner, you are always looking for the holy grail of business – Steady Lead Generation or a non-stop influx of customers.

If you are not growing a TOMATO Garden, you may find yourself with a dried up garden hose, which means, your flow of customers is dried out!

Little do you realize that…

Your Strongest sales force is literally sitting right in your Database right now!

There is no need to go out and invest in expensive Advertising to try to find new customers if you don’t really have to…

When you ALREADY have the most valuable customers right within your reach…

and they are your EXISTING or Past Customers!

THEY are your most Powerful Sales Force!

So what is a TOMATO Garden in the Marketing World, and how can you start growing your own?

TOMATO, in the context of this Article, means

Top
Of
Mind
Awareness
To
Others

Which simply means, YOU or your business are at the TOP of someones mind.

Let’s say you just did business with Sally.

Sally loved your Service.

Let’s say Sally Just bought a car.

If Sally is like Most people, she isn’t buying cars very often, so you have short term vision and just thank Sally and give her your card and let her know that if she knows anyone who needs a car, to send them your way.

Months pass, and Sally has completely forgotten about you.

==>> OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND!!

Her friend Sheila is in the Market for a brand new E-Class, but because Sally and Sheila’s Mutual Friend Sabrina, is in LOVE with Joe, the guy who sold her HER car, she rushes to recommend Joe to Sheila for buying her new Mercedes.

See, Joe not only gave Sabrina his business Card, but he also sent her a thank you Card in the Mail. And he sent her a birthday card, and he sent her a Christmas and a Mothers Day Card…

Loooong after Sabrina left the Car Lot.

So when one of Sabrina’s friends needed a car, Joe was right there, at the Top of her Mind, and Sabrina was quick to recommend him.

See, when you conduct business with a person, you must look BEYOND that person, and see that you are also potentially doing business with THAT person’s NETWORK.

So you WANT to be planting a TOMATO garden Starting Today, and going into your Current Customer or Prospect Database, or if you are a Network Marketer, start with your Own TEAM or hot prospects, and begin connecting with them.

Sure enough, when everyone else has dropped off the planet, and you are still there, etching your presence in their mind, by constantly being Present…

The next time something comes up, that involves your business, people will refer you more often than not.

As in real gardening, tomatoes NEED watering, NURTURING and ATTENTION, and your customers, prospects and teammates are
NO DIFFERENT.

It doesn’t matter what industry you are in.

Everyone likes to be remembered and appreciated.

As a Person who has built her business solely on referrals, this TOMATO garden analogy not only is TRUE but it absolutely works for generating Referral Business.

  • Lisa,

You are absolutely right. Not only do you have to have top of the mind awareness, but you also need to have frequency in your marketing message.

Your customer is not just sitting at home, hoping that you will call them. On avergage, people get bombarded with 4k-8k marketing messages per day, so you need to keep reminding the customer that you are around.

Many people need up to 7 exposures to your message before they will even make a buying decision. It’s all about the numbers and the repetition.

  • Hi Lisa, I appreciate you like successful woman.

  • Love the name Tomato Marketing Lisa. It’s a great analogy… we all need a bit of nurturing :0)

  • Hey Lisa, Joe here, I love the Tomato Marketing. I remember reading so many articles on farming while in Real Estate Marketing, also the bible talks about reaping what you sow and so much on people relationship building. All of it has one great thing in common. It grows over careful watering, and tender loving care. TLC.
